By Roshni Chaudhari (Addicted to Lace) Whitney Houston once said, “I like being a woman, even in a man’s world. After all, men can’t wear dresses, but we can wear the pants.” There’s no doubt that women can experiment with a lot more different types of clothing and accessories than men. With the advent of androgyny, the range of options has widened even more.

By Rukmini Sengupta Have you ever been in a situation where you watch a TV show and go like, “I love what that man is wearing!” or “he looks so darn good in that leather jacket”? I bet you have. I am sure many of us have found ourselves drooling over those stubbles, the perfect bodies and spectacular outfits. We at Derailed Douchebaggery bring you the top 5 stylish TV characters, rocking their performances with their perfect clothes. 1. Harvey Specter - Suits
You might have always seen this man in suits and rarely in anything else but oh my, he does make me go gaga every time he appears on screen. Typical of Harvey Specter’s outfits are the blue pinstripe 3 pieces suit. He looks just perfect when he adorns a white shirt and a simple blue tie. If he was my lawyer, I would make sure to have a case to discuss with him every single day. By Aishwarya Menon The women's suit has become the talking point again. Angelina Jolie's red carpet appearance in a black-and-white tux had the world going gaga. It's a brilliant take on the power dressing and men's wear-inspired trends that are firing up ramps.
Why wear a suit? It's a statement-making piece of clothing that has seen many women assert her strength in corporate corridors. Flirty, Formal, Sexy. You can look strong and daring in a pant-suit,boyish in a short suit, ladylike in a skirt-suit & glamorous in a tuxedo. By Aishwarya Menon Like shoes are for women, ties should be for men. Guys usually get away with owning just a couple of suits or a few trousers, but having a good selection of ties is a must. The right tie can make or break an outfit.
Ties can spell the difference between an aesthetic miracle and a fashion disaster and not many men take this matter seriously. By Anisha Anil Chadha The awards season was brought to a start last night with the Life OK Screen Awards 2014. While the awards must have been exciting, the fashion on the red carpet was meh. There were surely a few who took our breath away and hardly any disasters, but all in all, the clothing was just not up to par. We really hope to see more exciting styles in the upcoming awards. Here are last night's looks : 1.) Sonakshi Sinha The Lootera actress was hands down one of the best dressed actresses last night. She wore a nude Amit GT dress, with jewellery from House of Chic(ring) and Viange(earrings). She completed her look with nude pumps, side swept hair and hot pink lips. We are absolutely digging this look! Mint green, a color which in the past was only expected to be seen in hospitals and on hospital employees has now made a huge impact in the fashion world. From sweaters to shoes, this green hue has become the color of everyone’s choice. But why has this specific color has gained so much popularity on the racks around the world? Well I have two reasons for it:-
1.) The mint green color has quite a soothing effect to it on one's eyes. 2.) Pastels have a tendency of looking fresh and young but also sophisticated. They can give just the right amount of pop to a neutral outfit without looking super flashy. And mint green is the pastel hue which is on the top of the game at the moment. The 5 S wardrobe - So which all mint green pieces should definitely be in your wardrobe? I believe you should have the 5 S's of mint green clothing – Sweater, Satchel, Statement, Skirt, Sundress. Oversized Sweater – Winters are usually dominated by dull colors like grey, brown, black and navy. A mint green sweater brings in just the right amount of happy to a dull looking winter. How to wear it? Oversized sweaters and cut off shorts are comfortable and feminine, and if the sweater is mint green, they check the stylish mark too. This look is perfect for a casual trip to the grocery store or night-in with your friends. To amp up the look, you can sport the sweater with black or blue skinny jeans or a neutral colored plain bodycon dress and heels. The oversized sweater in itself is quite overwhelming, so go easier on the accessories. College has already started for me and is going to start pretty soon for most of you. So what better than discussing college fashion? Jeans, Shirts, T-shirts, and if you are in India, kurtas and at times salwar kameez are what make up most of your college wardrobe. Even though these are the most obvious and casual options (which is necessary because you cannot wear a cocktail dress to college and look like a freak), one can always spice things up with some, not so common, yet can be worn casually articles of clothing. So we here at Derailed Douchebaggery have decided to give you a few ideas you should totally try out this time when college starts, because who does not want everyone to look at them and be like, OMG why am I not wearing that.
1. Blazers There is no article of clothing created till date which can beat a jacket or a blazer when it comes to the level of smartness. For years people have been categorizing blazers as professional wear and jackets as bike gang wear, basically for the rough and tough look. College is a place where people want to look good while being slightly dressed down and according to them these pieces do not fill the criteria. But what most people don’t know is that you can wear these pieces to college without looking overly dressed but still standing out. Getting the perfect look - How can you wear a blazer and still look casual? The easiest way is, wear a simple t-shirt, a nice skinny pair of jeans or a pretty pleated skirt and flats, shoes or loafers ,things that you would normally wear to the college, but then ‘bang’ put on a pretty blazer as your statement piece and you will fill the mark perfectly by standing out yet keeping it simple. A strict NO - Even though heels look gorgeous with these looks or almost anything, wearing heels to college is a very silly idea, as you are not going to be comfortable and you will stand out in the negative light. |
