Our generation has had the privilege, or should I say the misfortune, of witnessing and being the drivers of an epic transformation in the written language. Vowels and punctuations are today endangered species and correct spellings are mythical creatures of the past. Not a day goes by when I don’t encounter spine curling status updates reading “Mah lyf mah rulzzz” and the typical ones. And every single time I bemoan the death of the English language! Until one day.
Does love deserve a second chance? Just because one love didn't work out does not mean love doesn't exist or you're unlucky in love. Faith is important for love, but what's meant to be will last forever and the rest will run out of reasons to happen. But yes if you have fallen out of love, maybe all you need is another perfect moment and a perfect person to fall in love again.
The idea of a long distance relationship has always managed to tear apart several perfect couples. How many of us have actually broken up or seen our friends and family break up simply because their partner has to travel either right across the country or fly to a different part of the world just to attend college or for better job prospects?
The sheer thought of not seeing the love of your life for months pressurises most of them into calling it quits as people have this notion that the distance kills the passion and sucks the life out of any relationship. They believe that the spark dies out and hey, no one wants to be in a dull and boring relationship!
“We live alone, we die alone. Everything else is just an illusion. ”
It used to keep me up at night. We all die alone. So, why am I supposed to spend my life working, sweating, struggling? For an illusion? Because no amount of friends, no girl, no assignments about conjugating the pluperfect or determining the square root of the hypotenuse is going to help me avoid my fate. I have better things to do with my time."
High school graduation is a time for overenthusiastic future freshmen donning their best attires for the Farewell and well let’s face it, a lot of heartbreaks. While some of the self-proclaimed pragmatists among us take the “logic-highway” and speed away single to their “real” life which is to begin at college; there are the others, the helpless descendants of none other than the apple-biting Adam and Eve who hell bent on uncrossing their star crossed fates try “the long distance thing” . Well, bad bad idea, pal.
Guilt is a very powerful emotion. It is destructive, all-consuming, and emasculating. Guilt is sometimes humbling, mostly needed; but as they say, excess of anything is bad. Having a conscience and feeling responsible for your actions is a good thing, but getting consumed by your guilt is bad. How can a Heart that is full of pain have place for Love? And what is Life without the joy of Love?
What could be called a smooth life is continuously hampered by our own thoughts, mainly negative, which affect our feelings, emotions and eventually, our behaviour and health. So just control your thoughts, keep the positive ones, and flush out the negative ones. Sounds simple doesn’t it? But nobody can actually gain control over their thoughts. Yet, what can be done is that our mind can very much be fooled to learn this art. Yes, this is an art, the ‘Art of Living’. To be able to take all of it when life tries to knock you down and believing all the way through the bad phases that life isn’t perfect. Nothing is. Problems are meant to be faced; they may make life more interesting, they erratically make some of the funniest stories, or set examples and nevertheless may inspire a few, thousands, or even millions.
Hearing is an ability, comprehending is wisdom and listening is a skill. Did we all listen to our teachers when they spent hours teaching and explaining their subjects? Well, most of us didn't, we just heard them. Had we listened carefully, life would have been a tad bit better from an academic point of view, then and in the later stages. But this is not as much of a concern in today’s society. Those days are left behind when an individual was judged majorly by his/her academics performance, and the trend of soft skills is taking its place instead. Soft skills are the personality traits of an individual which leave a good impression on the other person, and hence also provide great job prospects. They can be attitude, body language, fluency in speaking, and many more, the most important being the skill to listen.
Something about falling in love is overrated and we just can't figure it out. It's all rosy and nice and a bliss at the beginning but as time changes everything, somehow it all fades away. And if it lasts, you are lucky in love.
You remember things that have happened, and they burn you up. You curse your fate for the bad card life has dealt you. You try to hate the purveyor of your misery. Your stomach feels like it is on fire, but, no, it’s not heartburn. It is something else. It is a sinking feeling that makes you feel like all is lost and nothing will ever be right again. It is an intense emotion that makes you hate life itself. It’s like encountering a Deatheater out of the blue. It is having all life sucked out of you. The only way out of such a situation-your Patronus charm- is forgiveness.
