By Anisha Anil Chadha After taking the punk route last year, this year’s theme for the Met Gala was anything but punk, it was ‘White Tie and Decorations’ paying homage to Charles James, America’s first and best known couturier. This time’s theme couldn't have been any easier or classier for the Met attendees but still many managed to mess it up. And while a few did live up to the expectations, they were easily overpowered by the numerous fashion disasters that were seen on the red carpet. While some looks made us feel that they belonged to a different event or theme, others just had us wondering, ’What were they thinking?’. So here are the 10 Worst Dressed Stars at Met Gala 2014:
1. Rita Ora By Rukmini Sengupta Have you ever been in a situation where you watch a TV show and go like, “I love what that man is wearing!” or “he looks so darn good in that leather jacket”? I bet you have. Some TV show characters are simply incredible and totally dressed to kill the ladies. I am sure many of us have found ourselves drooling over those stubbles, the perfect bodies and spectacular outfits. We at Derailed Douchebaggery bring you the top 5 stylish TV characters, rocking their performances with their perfect clothes. 1. Harvey Specter - Suits
You might have always seen this man in suits and rarely in anything else but oh my, he does make me go gaga every time he appears on screen. Typical of Harvey Specter’s outfits are the blue pinstripe 3 pieces suit. He looks just perfect when he adorns a white shirt and a simple blue tie. If he was my lawyer, I would make sure to have a case to discuss with him every single day. By Aishwarya Menon When hearing someone mention spring or summer, or both in the same sentence, the first image that pops up in your head in terms of outfits can either be of vivid colors, bold prints and fun statements, or it can be of pure white outfits, lightness of fabrics and a sense of serenity. If you happen to belong to the second category, you’ll be happy to know that the spring staple isn't going anywhere this season.
This spring, all-white outfits are being envisioned as statements of flawless style and impeccable taste. While the trend has just started taking over the streets, it won’t be long until everyone starts thinking about filling their wardrobes with white. Anisha Anil Chadha It’s only April, so it’s technically spring but the weather is getting hotter by the day, and it feels like summer is here already. While the weather is all sweaty and tiring and a big DON’T, summer fashion is always something to look forward to. Fashion this season is usually super chic and easy to wear. You just cannot mess up in the style department this season. So here are a few dos and don'ts for this ‘so called’ spring and the upcoming summers to help you fly through the blazing hot months fashionably. DOs 1. Crop Tops
Crop Tops are totally in and show just the right amount of skin. The best thing about them is that they can be worn for a casual walk at the park or at a classy dinner date depending on how you style them. Get this top on Roposo.com By Aishwarya Menon The women's suit has become the talking point again. Angelina Jolie's red carpet appearance in a black-and-white tux had the world going gaga. It's a brilliant take on the power dressing and men's wear-inspired trends that are firing up ramps.
Why wear a suit? It's a statement-making piece of clothing that has seen many women assert her strength in corporate corridors. Flirty, Formal, Sexy. You can look strong and daring in a pant-suit,boyish in a short suit, ladylike in a skirt-suit & glamorous in a tuxedo. By Aishwarya Menon Like shoes are for women, ties should be for men. Guys usually get away with owning just a couple of suits or a few trousers, but having a good selection of ties is a must. The right tie can make or break an outfit.
Ties can spell the difference between an aesthetic miracle and a fashion disaster and not many men take this matter seriously. By Aishwarya Menon Fashion is a much maligned, misunderstood beast. It’s a cultural zeitgeist, it’s wearable art, it’s so ahead of its time, it can be a major drain on your wallet and the list goes on and on.Misconceptions are so easily perpetuated into fact that we at Derailed Douchebaggery have decided to debunk some of the most common myths associated with fashion and style.
#1 You'll have to spend truckloads to look good. By Anisha Anil Chadha The biggest trend in men's fashion 2013 was not a cloth, not a specific hairstyle but 'facial hair'. Yes, it was the gorgeous, well groomed, stylish comeback of the full blown BEARD. And thank the stars; this trend was here to stay. 2014 till now has shown us that men are in love with this trend and aren't ready to let go of it. Well honestly speaking, neither are the ladies.
