By Anisha Anil Chadha Nowadays, heat has started taking a front seat almost everywhere around the world. Getting out of the house is a nightmare. And as much as we would love to sit naked in our room with the AC on high, sipping a delicious mojito, unfortunately, we have a life. Whether its college, work or just meeting friends, we have to get our arse out the door, into the scorching sun. This means experiencing greasy skin, pimples, sunburns, brown spots and a million other damages making your skin look drab. While we cannot prevent ourselves from facing the sun, we sure can do a few things to protect our skin from damage. We all know the basics which have been drilled into our heads (especially by our beloved mothers)like stay hydrated, use a sunscreen, apply a toner and wash your face gazillion times a day , so there is no point going through them again and again. Here are a few easy and innovative tips to prevent skin damage this summer:-
1. Rosewater to The Rescue Anisha Anil Chadha It’s only April, so it’s technically spring but the weather is getting hotter by the day, and it feels like summer is here already. While the weather is all sweaty and tiring and a big DON’T, summer fashion is always something to look forward to. Fashion this season is usually super chic and easy to wear. You just cannot mess up in the style department this season. So here are a few dos and don'ts for this ‘so called’ spring and the upcoming summers to help you fly through the blazing hot months fashionably. DOs 1. Crop Tops
Crop Tops are totally in and show just the right amount of skin. The best thing about them is that they can be worn for a casual walk at the park or at a classy dinner date depending on how you style them. By Anisha Anil Chadha Valentine's Day is right around the corner and almost every girl is excited about spending the day with a special someone or her girlfriends. While everyone might not have a valentine on this day, looking your best is a must; What if cupid has a plan for you? Different people have a different way of celebrating this day, the romantic ones with a date, the wild bunch with a party and the busy bees are all about work. So here are a few outfit ideas for whichever way you choose to celebrate your valentine's day. Date Night
Going out for dinner with a special someone is the classic way of spending Valentine's Day. The atmosphere is romantic and flirtatious. Your outfit should embody these three words classic, romantic and flirty. Wear a pretty dress with a flared skirt, put up your hair in a messy bun, don't forget to apply the blood red lipstick, and you are ready for a fabulous time. By Anisha Anil Chadha The awards season was brought to a start last night with the Life OK Screen Awards 2014. While the awards must have been exciting, the fashion on the red carpet was meh. There were surely a few who took our breath away and hardly any disasters, but all in all, the clothing was just not up to par. We really hope to see more exciting styles in the upcoming awards. Here are last night's looks : 1.) Sonakshi Sinha The Lootera actress was hands down one of the best dressed actresses last night. She wore a nude Amit GT dress, with jewellery from House of Chic(ring) and Viange(earrings). She completed her look with nude pumps, side swept hair and hot pink lips. We are absolutely digging this look! Mint green, a color which in the past was only expected to be seen in hospitals and on hospital employees has now made a huge impact in the fashion world. From sweaters to shoes, this green hue has become the color of everyone’s choice. But why has this specific color has gained so much popularity on the racks around the world? Well I have two reasons for it:-
1.) The mint green color has quite a soothing effect to it on one's eyes. 2.) Pastels have a tendency of looking fresh and young but also sophisticated. They can give just the right amount of pop to a neutral outfit without looking super flashy. And mint green is the pastel hue which is on the top of the game at the moment. The 5 S wardrobe - So which all mint green pieces should definitely be in your wardrobe? I believe you should have the 5 S's of mint green clothing – Sweater, Satchel, Statement, Skirt, Sundress. Oversized Sweater – Winters are usually dominated by dull colors like grey, brown, black and navy. A mint green sweater brings in just the right amount of happy to a dull looking winter. How to wear it? Oversized sweaters and cut off shorts are comfortable and feminine, and if the sweater is mint green, they check the stylish mark too. This look is perfect for a casual trip to the grocery store or night-in with your friends. To amp up the look, you can sport the sweater with black or blue skinny jeans or a neutral colored plain bodycon dress and heels. The oversized sweater in itself is quite overwhelming, so go easier on the accessories. It is a universally known fact that your clothes and shoes speak tons about you. But did you know that your favorite nail polish might also have a huge impact in defining your personality. Just imagine, you see a girl with hot red nails, what is the first thing that hits your head, bold or demure? So you see how your nail polish says more about you than you think. Here are the personality traits described by the different nail polish colors:- 1.) NEON
You are the ‘life of the party’. You are an entertaining and exciting person. No one can ever get bored around you. And you love the spotlight. This desperation of creating unique trends has led designers to look into different cultural and traditional clothing and giving them a modern twist. Even though this twist does not always work out well, but this specific piece of clothing in discussion, has sure left a mark in the fashion industry and has gained a spot in clothing stores around the globe. The trend which is totally worth obsessing is, Kimono Cardigan.
Japan has always been the hub of unique fashion trends, whether it is Lolita or school girl, Japan has them all. But one of the prettiest and hands down the classiest piece of clothing that has been brought to the world from Japan is the traditional kimono. These full length robes with long sleeves prove that Japan has a seat in the roster of most fashionable countries in the world and thus stealing the kimono style was a must. The Kimono Cardigan is a western twist to the original kimono. It is loose, comfortable and can be worn with almost any outfit. It can change a look from blah to fabulous. Personally, I am crazy about this trend because of its Bohemian nature, it is just so easy going and yet so stylish. It is ‘THE TREND’ to fall in love with. Get the Perfect Look:- As I said, a kimono cardigan can go with anything and everything but if you want to get ‘the perfect look’, there is only one point you need to remember. Kimono cardigans are usually printed and therefore the obvious suggestion is to make sure that you wear a solid colored t-shirt or dress under it, so that you do not overdo your look with a blast of prints. by Anisha Anil Chadha College period is an experimental soul’s heaven. It is the post uniform, post tying your hair in 2 ponytails period. It is the time you can choose from a huge assortment of styles whether it’s the hipster look or the gangster or the uber-stylish socialite, the choices are infinite. Even though clothing plays a huge role in defining one’s personal style, your hairstyle is of equal importance.
While some of us travel a different route with bright colored hair and unique hairstyles, most like to keep it simple with the natural color and obvious hair. While there is no problem with going natural, one could always step up the game with a few simple and not so distracting styles. The latest trend in these ‘simple’ hairstyles will have to be the various kinds of plaits and braids. The plait trend is growing by the day. With an increase in the number of fashionistas going for the ‘casual look’, plaits are becoming a go-to hairstyle. It can be seen on the streets, in college, at parties, name the place and you have a plait style which you can flaunt there. These styles are just right to be the stepping stone to try out something different. So while I sit and wait for my hair to grow, so that I can wear these someday, check out some plait styles I am absolutely in love with and do try out the one which defines your personality.
