So you had a kickass weekend? Drank till you dropped dead on the floor and drunk dialed your ex? Now Monday morning is killing you and you regret the weekend and the headache is being a bitch? Hangover is something that reminds you that you had a weekend that was worth the headache. But here is the difficult part, attending early morning classes hung-over or going to the office for an important presentation or meeting and getting annoyed by every second question being asked to you. Yes, all these are very common. Now obviously this article doesn’t go for the ones who drink anything but alcohol. But that doesn’t mean you can’t read it.
Here I am giving you a few tricks which I guess many of you already follow, but still I am going to share it with all of you. 7 tricks of getting rid of that hangover from the already existing morning (Monday mostly) blues.
1.Water, it’s a savior.
Drink loads and loads and loads of water. Somehow it makes you feel better and also pee a lot. But still drink it down like you gulped down that bottle of scotch last night. It will clear your stomach and make you feel a little better. I am not going to lie to you about it; it cures only 2% of the hangover.
2.Tea or a coffee person?
Personally I am more of a coffee person. But that doesn’t matter because these two beverages are the best to get rid of that headache. It will magically disappear. And then they say magic is an illusion. But coming back to the point, try drinking black coffee or green tea, either of them are stubborn enemies of vodka, whisky, rum, scotch etc whatever you had. I know docs will tell you to avoid caffeine because of dehydration issues, but well, it works for me.
3.Wrap yourself in the sheets!
Try getting as much sleep as possible. It rests your body and calms down the adrenaline rush you have had last night. Though sleeping is my favourite pass-time, it is a healer. Sleep is the vital most thing to do post weekend bash you might have had. So what are you waiting for? Get the bed cover, puff down the pillow; close your eyes and sleep. It will make you feel 10 kgs lighter than you were prior to the sleep.(cut your work/classes by just giving them a call, hung-over voice always works for sick leaves.)
4.Had the alone time in the shower yet?
You're going to want to take a steaming hot shower. Don't do that. Keep the water lukewarm, since high temperatures only exacerbate puffiness. But a shower is mandatory to get rid of the hangover because you really need to feel fresh. It’s just the thought of feeling fresh that doesn’t count. You need to feel it too.
5.Treat yourself a healthy breakfast.
Make sure before you leave for your college/work, you eat well. Your breakfast must definitely include a fruit juice or fruits, they help you with the whole vitamins and minerals stuff in your body. You know the replenishments and etc crap going on inside our complicated body structure.
6.Get moving
As soon as you can, get yourself up and moving. The physical exercise will help your body metabolize the leftover alcohol and detoxify your body. Don’t overdo it. Too much technical stuff eh? Oh by the way, many of you will not know this, but sex (oh did I say the “word not to be spoken about”) also helps you release your hangover stress. Believe it or not, up to you.
7.Old school trick!
Hail Aspirin! Yes, it’s always been the savior and the fastest one. People who have no time for the above tricks go for this. Pop that pill and move on. Make sure you always have them at home, because that headache is very annoying. Yes, more annoying than the moment when you needed a drink last night and you were not getting one!
I personally would recommend the third trick because that’s what I end up doing! Anyway, go ahead and have a bomb weekend but make sure you don’t suffer much the next morning.
