It was confirmed earlier today that the Malaysian Airlines flight has crashed into the sea 153 miles off the coast of Vietnam.
The plane consisted of 227 passengers (including 2 infants). Flight 370, as it was called was operated on a Boeing 777-200ER which began operating in 2002.

Sepang, 8 March 2014: Malaysia Airlines confirms that flight MH370 has lost contact with Subang Air Traffic Control at 2.40am, today (8 March 2014).
Flight MH370, operated on the B777-200 aircraft, departed Kuala Lumpur at 12.41am on 8 March 2014. MH370 was expected to land in Beijing at 6.30am the same day. The flight was carrying a total number of 227 passengers (including 2 infants), 12 crew members.
Malaysia Airlines is currently working with the authorities who have activated their Search and Rescue team to locate the aircraft.
The flight crashing was confirmed by the Vietnamese Navy and now search parties have been sent to investigate this matter. As far as now, no wreckage has been found. The flight departed from Kuala Lumpur and was to arrive at the Beijing international airport at 6:30 AM (Local time).
Currently, all efforts are being made by Malaysian airlines, Boeing and Vietnamese navy to communicate to the missing airlines and also to figure out the exact location.

"We are doing everything in our power to locate the plane.
We are doing everything we can to ensure every possible angle has been addressed," Transport Minister Hishamuddin Hussein told reporters near the Kuala Lumpur International Airport.
"We are looking for accurate information from the Malaysian military. They are waiting for information from the Vietnamese side," he said.
