“If I have to give up my post as CM and my life for this country I will consider myself fortunate.” - Arvind Kejriwal; addressing his supporters at AAP HQ.
Last night (14-Feb-2014, Friday), Mr. Arvind Kejriwal after a short stint as CM (49 days) handed over his resignation to LG of Delhi after the Jan Lokpal Bill was not allowed to be tabled. The Congress and BJP did not allow the bill to be tabled stating that voting on such a bill without the permission of Central Government is unconstitutional. Most probably Delhi is now headed towards a re-election following presidential rule, which will be held simultaneously with the Lok Sabha elections.
Mr. Kejriwal had been threatening to resign if the bill passage was obstructed. In my opinion this was inevitable due to the increasingly dysfunctional relationship of Congress and AAP.
Definitely it looks as if AAP has come out on top of it all with Mr. Kejriwal sticking to his words and other parties looking as if they are against the Lokpal bill, but such a decision has its negative points too. Fighting another election comes at a cost which will involve a money collection drive, where AAP will have to answer for the wastage of money. Some are labeling Mr. Kejriwal’s decision impatient and that he is neglecting responsibility. He could have gone for a re-amendment of the Delhi LokAyukta bill which would have been in conformity with the Central Laws. (National Lokpal bill was just passed on 17th Dec 2013)

Okay, now for the questions which will be definitely running in your head throughout the day.
1. Mr. Kejriwal did this to ready his launchpad for Lok Sabha General elections? - Well it’s a bit of a speculation, that he has done this for emotional sympathy.
2. Many believe and agree to the fact that he had been finding ways to isolate himself from this position, so that he could continue on his campaign at a national level.
What do you think?
3. Kejriwal said BJP and Congress united to defeat the anti corruption legislation because his government had got a first information report registered against Ambani over an excessive increase in gas prices that would lead to windfall profits for Reliance Industries. Many believe a mere route, to escape from his made promises.
4. In talks with one of the citizens of the nation’s capital, we found out, that people have started using the “broomstick” to get their work sorted. If not adhered to, they begin to threat, saying they will file an FIR, or else report for corruption.
5. Many are now calling him “The drama queen, in a muffler” .
Has Mr. Kejriwal played his cards right? was it a smart move? Which party will get a majority in the re-elections? only time will tell.
