That’s not a new movie. I just fused the current major blockbusters into one phrase.
Before you read this article, what you should know is that, Wolf of Wall Street has got 5 Oscar Nominations whereas, Hustle has amassed 10.
Let me explain the synopses in short. Wolf of Wall Street is about a poor guy becoming a billionaire and American Hustle is about cheating. Wolf of Wall Street has incorporated no sentiment whatsoever whereas there is a little bit of drama in play in American Hustle.

Let me explain the synopses in short. Wolf of Wall Street is about a poor guy becoming a billionaire and American Hustle is about cheating. Wolf of Wall Street has incorporated no sentiment whatsoever whereas there is a little bit of drama in play in American Hustle.
Wolf of Wall Street is about a novice in stock market business but who is an expert in sales. The first company he works for closes and he ends up starting his own firm. Well, as is per cinema stereotype, he grows fast with his firm, which consists of close friends who used to deal drugs, by wrong means. Then he loses his first wife and gets married to a model. Finally, he gets busted. The story deals about all this in a rather amazing screenplay directed by Martin Scorsese starring Leonardo Di Caprio (Someone give him an Oscar already).
American hustle deals with a professional con artist who deals in small amounts and cheats his customers with false promises. The lead role is played by Christian Bale, the lead heroines be Amy Adams and Jennifer Lawrence, and the support actor being Bradley Cooper. This story doesn’t have a very grand screenplay. It however uses the Plaza Hotel to its full extent. It deals with how Bale and Amy Adams get conned by Bradley Cooper, an attention-hungry cop, into working for the cops to ensure their own escape after being busted by him. Bradley Cooper seeks to bust the entire Congress of accepting bribe and he does so by conning the Mayor.
Now to compare them, both don’t have any sort of extraordinary story or setting. However story wise, American Hustle has an edge over Wolf of Wall Street and setting wise, Wolf of Wall street over American hustle. American hustle manages to indulge the viewer into a slightly dragged plot and Wolf of Wall Street compresses a novel into 3 hours.
Leonardo Di Caprio’s acting is unparalleled. It was so beautifully enacted that, at times, we seem to fall into his place. His emotions reflected by his face are so crystal clear and genuine. Even we get enthralled when he goes power crazy in the movie. However it is completely an adult movie. Absolutely not suitable for children.
American Hustle has too much of drama by each actor, at times, overshadows each other. Hence, every one being equally good is equal to everybody not being good at all. Christian Bale has however taken body shaping for movies to a whole new level. In this movie, he acts as a fat bald unfit person. (Nothing like Batman) It is an Adult movie too.
Both the movies run a very predictable story all through but the ride is much better in Wolf of Wall Street. American hustle won’t leave you gasping for breath at any scene or at the end but Wolf of Wall Street will.
If you haven’t watched either of these, do so at the earliest. Both are treats to the eyes.
