they never were.”
But what do you do in the moments laced with melancholy that follow after the letting go- the
moments that torture you so, and test your beliefs? What do you do in the times that betray
hope and you feel cynical of Love, inclined to selfishness? What do you do in the testing times
when you feel lost, and all you want is for them to come back, and you think you can force them
to return, because maybe it was just a rough patch on the road to Happily-Ever-After?
first place, is it really worth waiting for someone who does not care enough to be with you? Yes,
of course, reasons for leaving can be different and rank differently on the acceptability scale. Maybe someone isn’t ready yet, and they want to make something of themselves before being “tied down”. Yes, if you really love them and are willing to wait, it might be worth it in the end.
But somebody who abandons you because they can’t put enough effort into the relationship to
make it work is definitely not worth the wait. Because, provided they return, what if someday they start running on that same track all over again? It should really not be all this complicated. If you really love someone, you love them, and if you don’t, you don’t. But, when is anything simple when it comes to matters of the heart?
Each step you take has far-reaching effects. But it not Love that is complicated, it is we. Love is about trust and faith, but when someone leaves they take the trust with them and reserve the power to uproot your faith. However, even that depends on the intensity of Love. Yes, Love has varying intensities. Not everybody can love the same way; only a few possess the power of loving truly and unconditionally. If you really, absolutely, completely love somebody ad believe in your heart that they will come back, wait. Because, if your Love is true, the person will sooner or later realize that they made a mistake. If not, why wait for someone who never was yours? Give your Love to someone who needs it. Why limit Love when it can spread far and wide?
Waiting then, is a part of the package. And waiting, then, is without an alternate.
