The social sciences textbooks, all pre-2014 will contain wrong data henceforth as India has allowed the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh to form the new state of ‘Telangana’.
A fun fact, Telangana actually existed before 1951, which was in control of the Nizams and it was considered as the Hyderabad state. Later it joined Andhra Pradesh. After a brief while, around 1969, protests began to emerge that Telengana has to be declared as a separate state.
After years of struggle by the Telangana movement supporters their bill was passed in the Lok Sabha on 18th February 2014 and the Rajya Sabha too passed it on 20th February 2014. The Union Cabinet on 7 February 2014 cleared the Bill for the creation of Telangana.
All the struggle finally proved worthy to the millions of people who wanted Telangana but also to the dismay of the ruling government under Mr. Kiran Reddy.

The movement as well the fight for this was a spectacle for the entire nation. Regular bandhs, movements, and mass protests were all witnessed by the entire country. While many are happy, there’s the other side too. In this matter, actually the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Congress have a unified opinion.
On the passing of the bill, Kiran Reddy quits as Andhra CM, YSR Congress Chief Jagan Reddy called for Seemandhra bandh on Wednesday. Amidst TV blackout the Lok Sabha decided to pass the bill for the 29th state which caused the resignation of Mr.Kiran Reddy as CM and this was heavily criticized by Jagan Reddy and Kiran Reddy alike.
Is the quitting of ministers a solution or right act to actually make a point? The sort of leaders we appoint nowadays and trust is shaky at their very roots. Struggles and movements like this have all become a political and a common gimmick to gather support for a cause; whether right or wrong.
Hyderabad is now stuck in the tug of war. The center has declared that it shall act as a common capital for the next 10 years, after which further decisions will be taken. Telangana will now consist of 10 of 23 districts of Andhra Pradesh.
This result will not only cause imbalance in the common capital but will also be a source of rise of various other movements and bifurcations in the country. Where is the unity when all being created is further diversity?
