Moyesy Time

Sir Alex Ferguson departs the scene as the manager of Manchester United after almost 27 years at the helm and for the first time for me like many, the dugout would have a different manager in David Moyes. Enter the new Scotsman.

Well, his start hasn't been easy, his star striker wants to leave, as the media claims. The pre season saw his newly acquired Champions of England win just 2 games and looked off pace. But it was just a pre season match until they were outplayed at home by Sevilla at Rio’s testimonial. Still pre season I would say, as a fan, I didn't worry much then. As a fan, I am trying not to over expect, as a fan I am overlooking the LACK OF SIGNINGS and the amassment of sponsorships by the new Chief Executive of Manchester United, Ed Woodward. Unlike David Gill, he hasn’t come out and spoken much leaving all the “dirty” work to Moyes. Poor old Moyes, takes what is probably the most coveted of managerial positions and his CEO goes missing. Well at least when it comes to signings. Clearly, watching all of United’s rivals across Europe and well even in the English Premier League itself sign a whole bunch of players to improve their squad to match United’s who ran away with the title last year is a worry. Well, firstly United’s squad is decent, but others’ has become better and they do not have the experience of Sir Alex anymore. Moyes is experienced but managing Everton and managing Manchester United is a totally different ball game.
Signings are a must in some capacity specially when all squads are improved and  it is Mourinho’s second coming to Chelsea after he never got the United job which he OBVIOUSLY wanted, no matter what he states in the media. All close sources confirmed this, but well what United have is Moyes who has a good knowledge of the English game and well not a lot about Europe as a whole. No wonder people are losing hope already with just one game gone. United were not absolutely brilliant in that game against Swansea City, they were clinical and the defending improved as the game gone on. Fans must stand by their new manager, as Sir Alex asked them to, cause well David Moyes was signed on a 6 year contract and no matter how much ever you tweet #MoyesOut on Twitter, he is here to stay for at least a couple of seasons. He will take time and well, to be blunt United may not be top dog with the bookies’ and may not sign anyone. Specially with the tough start that he has been handed, a lot would be revealed about Moyes in these games. We should remember keeping Wayne Rooney and getting him back to his best is like a new signing along with Kagawa’s second season. These are some positives for those who are looking to find one.

It’s your time now, make it count
As a United fan, I am trying to keep my expectations as low as possible, but then again, I am a United fan, I demand the best from my team. I follow Manchester United and they are always expected to be top no matter what. It is just another season, when the era is finally ending or the power is shifting or United are just plain boring. No matter what it has been, United has mostly come out on top and a lot of that has always been credited to the ability of Sir Alex Ferguson to get the best out of his players. So it is this bunch of players, most of them have played at least 3-4 seasons under him and have a certain mentality that others do not. Do not fear they would rot and not be counted. They will stand up and be counted cause well that is what these players believe in doing. This is THE JOB Moyes has to do now, since well Woodward is not the negotiator any United fan would’ve wanted at this moment when it came to signing players and not sponsorships.

Ed Woodward – The grin says it all. We have another sponsorship
Basically now is the need to calm down and support the club you love no matter if they sign anyone or not. Moyes is a shrewd manager and would obviously want his maiden season to be decent enough and justify the trust Manchester United have shown in bringing him when well they could’ve gotten others too. He is no Mourinho or Guardiola, what he is, he is Sir Alex Ferguson’s choice and one has no reason to berate him every minute of the day. The need is to make your voice known with support and love for the club cause if United do not sign anyone this summer, they might in the winter transfer window. Transfer windows would come and go, Moyes is here to stay. Some “late” transfer business should be allowed to the new manager who is still learning about being at a club of such size and stature. How about we see Welbeck score 20 odd and Anderson being the midfield marshal along with Cleverley learning to shoot from distance. Hah! That is what getting carried away is, but let’s hope if we don’t get anybody, this comes true. A masterstroke in the making? Good Luck Mr. David Moyes. You have a lot to prove. Football, bloody hell. The new chapter is beginning, let’s start on a positive note.
