“Part of me doesn't like it when everything works, i don't think anybody likes it if everything works. It's only fun when your trying to get it in your grasp. Just when you catch it, throw it back again, to catch it again. "
His first Grammy award was the turning point in his life. The year 2004 where he refined himself in the music world, the year every boy friend sang, “your body is wonderland” to his assumed “soul mate”. The year John Mayer came to be known by everyone in the world of pop music.
John always related his songs, to relationships. The actual love and emotions one has for another. When you listen to those few words used in every song, it feels like it’s saying years of story, months of loving someone, days of missing someone, and hours of being heartbroken.
“All the street lights say never mind never mind, And the canyon lines say never mind, Sunset says we see this all the time, never mind, never mind” – a verse from In Your Atmosphere.
It’s a song, which is his most relatable one, and I say this with personal experience. It was semester end for me, and I was experiencing a breakup, and somehow, going back to the city, was just to difficult. I yearned to return home to the, because everything here reminded me of her. Those roads, and the sunset walks, and the nighttime kiss. It seems like John tries to draw his audience, to embrace the song, as a ballad of their own life, or at least a small part of it.
Another really famous song, 'Gravity', was something, which can lift a person up of the ground.
In his own words, “This is the most important song I’ve ever written, it's a time capsule song. I will listen to it every day of my life if I need to. It's honest to God the most important song I’ve ever written in my life, and it has the fewest words. I was in LA, and was there for the summer, just writing tunes, and I was in the shower. And I don't know where it came from, but it's the damn truth you know, and I just sang, "gravity...is working against me."
“Wherever you go, wherever you are, I’ll watch your pretty life play out in, pictures from over far.”
Sometimes, even though all the signs and forces of nature tell you to let go, there is that part of you which just wants to find a way to hold on. So why not just do that? You don’t need to worry about what the world thinks. If he/she is special for you, then just go on the assumption that you were awesome with that person, and just let it be. The point is, you need to have an analog heart, this heart shouldn’t have a usb, and shouldn’t hook up to 3g. It’s a little abstract; I admit, but just spend out your time on love, just love more.
I feel like there is this newly invented matter of this fake hate that doesn’t exist, except in the people who feel it. There is all this negative energy going around and it’s not real. Don’t deal with the world outside of ether because it doesn’t exist.
In life people trip. Most people fall. Some people turn that trip into a beautiful, beautiful dance.
