During a surprise visit to the San Diego’s comic con, “Man of Steel” director Zack Synder announced that the unnamed sequel to his Superman movie is going to feature Batman.
“Let’s face it, it’s beyond mythological to have Superman and our new Batman facing off, since they are the greatest superheroes in the world. ” said Synder. He also asked an actor on stage to read a passage from the script.
“I want you to remember, Clark, in all the years to come.” before an image of the Superman and Batman logo flashing on the screen.
“In your most private, I want you to remember my hand at your throat. I want you to remember the one man who beat you.”

Personally being a die hard fan of both Superman and Batman this is great news, never before have we seen them fight onscreen, though both have fought many times in the comic books and animated series with varying outcomes.
This news also leaves a plethora of new questions in my mind. Who will play Batman? Will he be able to rival the legendary performance given by Christian Bale? Who is going to play the negative role in the movie (We all know its not going to be Batman =D)? When will there be movies on other characters from the DC multiverse?
Nevertheless, from WB’s prospective introducing Batman into the Man of Steel universe makes a lot of sense, as it is a great way to make onscreen appearances of new characters without being flamed for copying Marvels successful blueprint of releasing a separate movie for each hero (*cough* Avengers *cough*). The DC comic books series definitely has a lot of potential, with no dearth of deep and iconic heroes and villains; Harley Quinn, Riddler, Lex Luthor, Flash, Wonder Woman, etc. The Justice League movie that we were promised might not be as far in the future as we imagined it.
Man of Steel 2, or whatever Synder decides to call it has an estimated release date of summer of 2015, around the same time as Avengers 2. There are a lot of speculations about this movie but one thing is certain, superhero flicks are here to stay.
